Quake compo:

There will be compos in Fragfeast, Clan vs Clan and a Quake marathon

General info:

  • You can only enter one contribution per person in all competitions except the demo competitions. Here a group may submit up to two entries.
  • To be eligable for a prize you must be present at the party. IE, if you're at the moon this easter you cannot compete ;)

Amiga Demo

Most likely we will have an Amiga PPC board available for TG. Since we do not know how mant PPC demos we will receive we have not decided on how to do this. Two compos or one with 680x0 and PPC together.

  • Max unarchived size 6mb
  • Must work on 68030 and above
  • Can utilize FPU, but must then support 68881/68882/68040/68060
  • Max 2mb CHIP-RAM, 8mb FAST-RAM
  • Must work after SetPatch is installed
  • The demo can not reboot the machine when done, but do a 'clean exit'
  • Demo will be shown maximum 15 minutes
  • HD installable/runnable
  • Loopable only by choice (-loop parameter)
  • Exit any time with a mouseclick
  • file_id.diz must be included

Amiga 64Kb

  • Same as for Amiga Demo, but with max unarchived size 64Kb (65536 bytes)

Amiga 4Kb

  • Same as for Amiga Demo, but with max unarchived size 4Kb (4096 bytes)

The following rules apply to all PC Compo's

  • Must work on a Pentium running at 133Mhz
  • Must work with 610Kb conventional memory
  • DOS v7.0+ or Win95 (in full screen)
  • Loopable only by choice (-loop parameter)
  • Pressing the ESC-key at any time should exit the production
  • The system must be returned to it's previous state upon exit (i.e. no temp-files, stuff not removed from memory etc.)
  • A production may only participate in _one_ compo
  • VESA support will be provided with SciTech Display Doctor, current version.
  • file_id.diz must be included

PC Demo

In addition to the common PC rules, these rules apply to the PC Demo Compo:

  • Max 32mb RAM
  • Max unarchived size 6mb
  • VESA v2.0 complient and/or general VGA registers
  • Soundblaster and Gravis Ultrasound, and/or no-sound
  • The demos will be shown for a maximum of 15 minutes

PC 64Kb

In addition to the common PC rules, these rules apply to the PC 64K Compo:

  • Max 32mb RAM
  • Max unarchived size 64Kb (65536 bytes)
  • VESA v2.0 complient and/or general VGA registers
  • Soundblaster and Gravis Ultrasound, and/or no-sound

PC 4Kb

In addition to the common PC rules, these rules apply to the PC 4K Compo:

  • Max 32mb RAM
  • Max unarchived size 4Kb (4096 bytes)
  • VESA v2.0 complient and/or general VGA registers

PC Textmode

In addition to the common PC rules, these rules apply to the PC Textmode Compo:

  • Max 32mb RAM
  • Max unarchived size 4mb
  • Max 80x50 text mode resolution
  • Max 16 colors, neither palette nor fontset modification allowed
  • All 256 standard characters are allowed (state language code, ie. 437,850)
  • Blink attribute can be modified to allow 16 background colors
  • Soundblaster and Gravis Ultrasound, and/or no-sound

3DFX Compo

  • Must run under either DirectX, Glide or OpenGL.
  • Compo will run on a machine with 3DFX card installed, and must work on this platform. However, any demo working under DirectX will adhere to the rules and therefore be eligible EVEN if it does not support 3DFX. These demos will have a distinct disadvantage though.

Fast Intro Amiga/PC

See general demo rules

  • Topic will be announced at the party, and the compo will last approx. 8 hours

4 channel Music

  • One entry per person
  • 4 channels maximum
  • 15 modules will be selected by a jury
  • Max 4 minutes
  • pro/noise/soundtracker MOD, NST and C64 SID's allowed
  • Max 800Kb unarchived
  • Module must not have been previously released
  • file_id.diz must be included

Multichannel Music

  • One entry per person
  • 15 modules will be selected by a jury
  • Max 4 minutes
  • S3M, MOD, XM, IT, OctaMED, MTM, MDL, ULT, DMF, MFM, NST, STM and AMS allowed
  • Max 1024Kb unarchived
  • Max 1024Kb in memory
  • Module must not have been previously released
  • file_id.diz must be included

Fast Music

See multichannel rules

  • The samples will be given out in a .s3m, ,xm or .mod file
  • Max 32 channels
  • All formats allowed in the other music compos are acceptable
  • No samples may be added to the module
  • No samples may be moved within the module
  • No samples may be removed from the module
  • Samples may me modified with trackerextentions like looping, sustain and volume but not changed in any way
  • Compo will last approx. 4 hours
  • file_id.diz must be included

Anim Compo (WiLD)

  • Max 15 minutes
  • If the entry need any obscure hardware, contact us for arrangements.
  • Animations/CGI only
  • All contributions should be delivered on s-vhs or vhs. We will have equipent available for such taping, but you may risk not getting it taped before the deadline due to ques on this equipment.
  • If there are very many contributions, we will assemble a jury and make a selection before showing

Totally WiLD

  • Max 15 minutes
  • If the entry need any obscure hardware, contact us for arrangements.
  • Anything goes within legal limits.
  • Things to be delivered on video, must be clearly marked.

Graphics compos common

  • 20 pictures will be show 2x30 seconds (These will be picked by a jury)
  • GIF, IFF, JPEG, LBM, ILBM, HAM8, PNG, TGA and TIFF allowed
  • Max 24bit color depth
  • Max 1024x768 picture resolution
  • No color cycling effects allowed
  • The competition version must not be signed by the artist
  • All pictures submitted in the compo will be put up on the web, so that you can vote for pictures not chosen by the jury too
  • file_id.diz must be included

Graphics raytrace/rendered

  • Picture must be computer generated and not pixeled.

Graphics Pixelled

  • Picture must be pixelled and neither rendered or raytraced.

C64 Demo

  • C64 standard model
  • 64kb RAM (no wonder :)
  • 1541 or compatible FDD

Java demo

  • Must work on Netscape Communicator and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4
  • Compo machine will run Win95 and/or NT, and will be a faily fast machine
  • Sound must work on both browsers and be played from applet or embedded MIDI on HTML page.
  • Max. 10 mb (plus additional mb for eventual .cab, .zip and .jar versions)
  • Screen res: 640 X 480, which will leave some 600 X 300 for the demo inside the browser window!
  • Specifu which browser you want the entry to be showed on.
  • file_id.diz must be included
  • The browser will be restarted every time we test a new entry.

HTML

  • Support HTML 2.0, 3.2 or 4.0
  • We provide descriptions of a fictional company/organization
  • Some text and pictures will be provided as a basis for the website
  • New text and pictures are allowed and highly recommended
  • Points will be awarded for the following:
    • Graphic design
    • Functional design and implematation
    • Compatibility with browsers. Microsoft IE and Netscape is highly recommended to a precheck. Very peculiar browsers will not be utilized for the compatibility check.
    • Correct implementation of HTML
    • Code which works on more than the newest browsers will score higher than say HTML 4.0 only code

Most Useless Utility

Have you ever made something so totally useless by accident or you tried to on purpose? Then this is something for you. It doesn't matter if it's something which uses forever to calculate a number or if it's a simulation dog barker. All entries are welcome.
