Prizes and more information about the game competitions

Game competitions have always been a tradition on The Gathering. As Norway's big gather point for computer interested, we also attract lots of hardcore gamers.

Usually not all come with the same goals, but every time some one lose they get a bad taste in their mouths.

This year is no exception. We are going to arrange competitions both for the hardcore gamer and those who just want to have some fun. But this year there are some huge changes you will need to know:

The first one is about the Progamer-tickets. Earlier years this have given you a seat and table space for your computer together with other hardcore gamers. But this year it's completely different.

The progamer-ticket will NOT give you any table space for your own computer. This means if you are going to compete in the Dota tournament, you must have a "normal"-ticket because the Dota tournament will be held on the attendance own computers. You will NOT be able to enter the Dota tournament with a progamer-ticket.

A progamer-ticket will on the other hand give you entry to all the days of The Gathering 2010 and the following:

  • The Counter-Strike 1.6 Tournament if you have qualified online before TG10.
  • The Trackmania Nations Forever Tournament if you have qualified online before TG10.
  • The Quake Live Tournament as long you signup before the tournament gets full!
  • The FIFA 2010 Tournament as long you signup before the tournament gets full!
  • The Tekken 6 Tournament as long you signup before the tournament gets full!

Together with all the other competitions held by The Gathering 2010 and their sponsors. As an added bonus will all those who buy a progamer-ticket get a special goodiebag packed with awesome stuff people with "normal"-tickets won't get.

The Progamer-ticket costs 800NOK + 42NOK in fees, totalling 842NOK

The other change is that this year the main competitions are held on tournament computers and consoles rigged up in a game area. Perfect for attendance that don't wish table space for their own computer and still want to compete in the tournaments.

These competitions will have limited amount of slots, but fear not. Already have several of the tournaments opened registration for online qualifiers. And you will also be able to qualify for these at The Gathering in a "Bring your own computer"-Qualifier provided you have a "normal"-ticket and your own computer with you. There is no need to buy a additional progamer-ticket if you have a "normal"-ticket. A "normal"-ticket gives you just as much right to play in the competitions and tournaments.

So what can I compete about? Well, This year are event:game proud to announce record high prizes for the game competitions at The Gathering 2010. Around 229 000 NOK and more goodies. We have a wide collections of games that will be played. From team games to man verses man. The biggest and most popular games are on the list, and one of them is more of a lifestyle then game. We are talking about Counter-Strike 1.6. A game that have created dreams and made wishes come true in competitions all over the world. This year we can look forward to a little cooperation between The Gathering and Dreamhack. DreamHack is for those who don't know a Swedish computer party and promoted as the world biggest with over 10 000 attendance. And those who win either in Counter-Strike 1.6 or Quake Live will get a slot for their tournaments and the entry tickets.

Like last year we will continue our support for Console games. The demand for professional game competitions on the console have grown. And we wish to give our attendances the possibility to win some cash or gear in the games, FIFA 2010 and Tekken 6. Both classic series that most people know.

You should also note that some prizes might change due to local qualifiers for international tournaments. Where we underline the word might.

The prizes can be viewed on the game pages or in a complete list {cms_selflink page='prizes' text='here'}.
