Eileén passes the torch

December is drawing near, and while this means end of year exams, Christmas preparations and the smell of mistletoe to some, it means that the planning of the next TG has begun for others.

The organizers for the party were selected a few months ago, and it was made clear that Eileén Tennebø has passed the torch to last year's assistant, Lars Petter Johnsen.

- During your time as participants ombudsman, what is your best memory from The Gathering(TG)?

- I have several fond memories as I've had the position for four years, but every year there is one that surpasses them all: When the participants first enter the hall. The sight of the cheery participants full of expectations always fills me up with energy to give it my all throughout the TG-week.

Eileén continues to explain that getting in touch with the participants is the best part about being the participants ombudsman.

- There are over 5000 terrific people under the same roof during the event, and all of them have something positive to add to TG. It feels great to be the one who represents them during the event, and it's an honor to be their spokesman.

- So, why have you chosen not to go for a fifth year as participant's ombudsman?

- I have chosen not to keep the position this year due to the fact that I had an exceptional assistant in 2009. In a position like this - even though I adore it - you sometimes have to let go and allow someone new and better to have a try, in my opinion.

Further on, Eileén brags about Lars Petter, explaining that he has an incredible go-ahead spirit, and is already thinking like a participants ombudsman. He's easygoing and makes sure that the wellbeing of the participants is first priority. In addition to that, he's creative and good at solving problems, which is necessary for the position.

- As this interview draws to an end, do you have a greeting for all the participants you've met throughout the years?

- Dear incredible people! The day I walked into the TG-warmth at chance, I did not for one second believe that I would be allowed to keep the role as participants ombudsman for all of four years. I have a lot of memories of all of you who have been participants during my four years, and it warms my heart when you greet me, even outside of TG. I try to remember as many of you as possible, because you have given me so much. Plenty of smiles and laughter, and a lot of new friends in all ages and parts of the world, but some worries as well. Thank you.
