Hacking and cracking are valuable skills in today's information society. One needs to know what is possible in order to properly protect oneself against threats. That's why TG holds a yearly hacking competition where participants try to break into systems and programs in order to obtain information like passwords and secret keyword.

You will among other things have to reverse engineer an executable, pick a lock, break cryptography and do a bit of SQL injection.

- There is a distinct possibility of additional prizes directly from Mnemonic, says an unnamed source.

The competition starts 23:59 on Wednesday. Oslo University (UiO) is responsible for this year's competition. For more information about the competition check out the Hacking Competition page on the compo system and hack.competitions.tg15.gathering.org

Not all the details are final, so check this article again at 23:59 for more information.

Remember that cracking systems and networks without permission is illegal. We do not encourage or condone abusing or breaking into systems to which you have not been granted explicit access. This competition is intended to teach awareness about methods and techniques so that you can protect yourself from them, not to use them against others.
