Getting there

An important part of the TG experience is actually getting there. Here are the easiest ways to travel.

By air

If you want to go by airplane, we recommend you land at Oslo Lufthavn (OSL), which is the closest to Hamar (about 80 km). There's a direct train connection from the airport to Hamar station.

Other alternatives include Sandefjord lufthavn, Torp (TRF), where you can take a shuttle to Torp station and a train from there to Hamar

If you arrive at Moss Lufthavn Rygge (RYG) You can either take a bus to Oslo and train from there, or a train and change at Oslo Central Station

By train

The train station in Hamar is located approximately 2km from Hamar Olympic Hall, so walking with all your gear is not the best idea. Train tickets can be bought at nsb.no.

We have set up a shuttle bus service between the train station and the hall on the first and last day of the party. The bus ride costs 20 NOK.

On Wednesday, a shuttle bus will run continuously between the train station and the hall from 07 until 18. In the peak hours, between 09 and 16, two buses will be in use.

On Sunday, one bus will go from the hall to the train station between 08 and 12.

If you take the train from Bergen, Stavanger, Kristiansand and Moss, you will need to change trains in Oslo. We would greatly recommend buying tickets in advance.
Be advised that luggage capacity on the train is limited.
Buy your train tickets early, some of these trains fill up fast.

By car

E6 from the south

Take exit 66 at Stange, and follow the signs towards Stange along Rv 24. In Stange, take right in the roundabout, and follow Rv 222 north, along the rail tracks.

After a little while, you will arrive at Bekkelaget, stay on Rv 222. Cross the bridge, and take right in the roundabout. The parking lot and the hall will be on your right.
E6 from the north

Take exit 69 onto Fv 84 and follow the signs towards Rv 222 and Hamar. After a short while, you will pass through a roundabout, take the first exit on your right. This will lead you to the city centre of Hamar. Stay on this road, and take a left onto Fv 75 in the city centre. Following this road, you will pass the train station, and get to a roundabout where you will take to the left, and the parking lot and the hall will be on your right.

Follow the instructions from the crew when you arrive at the parking lot.

Parking is free, and there are designated spaces for mobile homes and camping in the far south, but we do not supply electricity for these.

Parts of the registration will most likely be outside, so bring warm clothes. More accurate information on the registration and entry will be at gathering.org just before the event opens.

By bus

Several bus companies will offer direct routes to The Gathering from around Norway. Long distance buses often stop a bit outside the city. If you are organizing a bus trip to Hamar Olympic Arena, you may find other, bus seeking participants at our forums.
