Remember to take backups!

When you're moving your computer gear, there's always a certain chance that something doesn't go as according to plan.

Many have probably experienced harddrives that have crashed, laptops that've died, file systems that are refusing to do what they're supposed to, or perhaps one has simply deleted the wrong files.

This is just some of what might happen with your precious data. It can happen at any time, but the risk is often greater when you're moving your gear, such as when going to The Gathering. However, the result is often the same, loss of data.

To avoid having to rip all of your CDs again, or losing all the pictures from your trip to London or of the meeting with Rick Astley, we strongly recommend that you back up your data before going to TG.

There are several solutions for this, but for the sake of simplicity we've gathered a few links here.

For Mac: Time Machine
For Windows: Backup and Restore Center
