Security crew

Security consists of three sub crews

  • Security: Security
  • Security: Medic
  • Security: Support

Security is responsible for the safety of participants at The Gathering, and is one of the largest crews.

Security:Security

Security:Security is the crew who is closest to the participants. They are a bunch of friendly and openminded people who are hosts rather than big bad gorillas. They make sure everyone is having a good time by patroling the arena and talking to the participants.

Every shift is divided into pairs of two. The tasks consist of checking admission to the event area, patroling in and around the arena, organizing the parking, lead an evacuation in the case of an emergency, and several other tasks that arise when the participants arrive and depart. In addition to that, they make sure that all regulations are being followed, and that the fire brigade and the police are content.

One of the advantages of working in Security:Security is that it's one of the crews with the best defined shifts. You are given an eight-hour shift (08.00-16.00, 16.00-00.00, 00.00-08.00) every day, and you are free to spend the remaining 16 hours as you please.

Two of the main keywords are polite, but determined.

If you got any questions, just send an e-mail to Christer at christer[at]gathering.org.

Security:Medic

Security: medic is the medical crew at The Gathering. Hygiene is high priority and the crew are responsible for participants' health and well being. They help with all medical cases, and has direct contact with local health authorities. They make sure people do preventive effort, it's important that participants understand that it's important to shower, wash hands, eat and drink plenty and get enough sleep.

Like Security: Security, Security: Medic are working in pairs, and has the same shift solution. The assignments consist of patrolling the hall to see if the participants are doing well, manning first aid situations in the hall, first aid and assistance if there is damage or disease. Applicants for this crew must be skilled in first aid or medical expertise. It is important to keep the head cool in difficult situations.

Security: Medic has a duty of confidentiality, so discretion is important.

Security:Support

Security: Support helps with the other tasks of security, such as flow information from Security to Info, ensuring that shelves and construction is approved. It's not possible to apply directly to the Security: Support this year.

All applicants must be over 18 years.

If you got any questions, just send an e-mail to Espen at espen[at]gathering.org.
