Guide to the competition system

How do I submit an entry? How do I register for a game competition? We have made a guide for you!

Login

  • Regular participants with a valid The Gathering ticket can log in with their GeekEvents account.
  • If you are a crew member, you can log in with your username and password from Wannabe.
  • If you are a sponsor and don’t have a ticket in GeekEvents, please contact the Creativia helpdesk.

Uploading your entry

  1. In the menu, press Competitions and select either Creativia or Game depending on the competition you are handing in to.
  2. Click on Upload Entry on the corresponding competition.
  3. Double check the rules - have you forgotten anything? If no, press continue.
  4. If your entry is made by one or more groups, select them in the Group field. The groups needs to be created in competitions.gathering.org/teams before you can use this field.
  5. Title is the only mandatory field in this view. Please give your entry an awesome title in stead of “TG15 Competition Entry”.
  6. In Message to crew, you can fill in any extra information the crew might need to know about your entry. This can be any particular instructions about how to display your entry, or anything else you might find relevant. This field is also optional, so don't put anything here unless necessary.
  7. In Message to big screen you can leave a comment that will be shown together with your entry. This field is optional, so you don’t have to put anything there.
  8. Press continue when you are happy with the information you've provided.
  9. In the next view you must fill in all the contributors and their role. If there was multiple contributors, press the + sign to create a new field.
    Please note that for a user to be searchable, they must have been logged into the competition system.
  10. Press continue when all contributors have been added, and their roles assigned.
  11. Finally, add your files and press Submit.

All entries that get shown in compos will be available for download from ftp.gathering.org after the compo show. Therefore, DO NOT include any kind of personal information, such as your phone number etc. in the archive, unless you want this info to be publicly available. Use the Comment for Organizers field in the compo system for such information.

Edit your entry

You can edit your entry by pressing Edit Entry. Here you will get status messages about your entry, and you can change essential fields like Title, Message to crew and Message to big screen.
You can also upload new versions of your entry, and select which one that is active.
It is your own responsibility to check the status of your entry.

Registering a team for a competition

  1. In the menu, press Competitions and select either Creativia or Game depending on the competition you are handing in to.
  2. Press To Registration on the corresponding competition. Remember, all fields are mandatory!
  3. In Team name you enter your teams name.
  4. The Team Captain field will be locked to you, that means that the team captain is the one who has to register a team.
  5. In the rest of the fields, add the teams members. Please not that a user must have been logged into the competition system to be searchable.
