Time to remix

Quote from OMVR regarding being remixed at TG:

"It is very cool that this remix competition is happening at The Gathering. I'm looking forward to hearing what they do with the song. You never now where the next super producer is sitting, and I think The Gathering is an awesome place to start! Good luck!"

The artist for this year's Remix competition is OMVR!

This year's track for the remix competition is OMVR - Hold You back. Your task is to take this song and rework it to your liking. This year, the song has a laidback and soulful style of r/b that is perfect for remixing. Start working on it right now and hand in your remix at The Gathering - before the deadline at 12:00 on Friday the 3rd of April.

Download the stems here (289 MB), and read the rules.

Remixing a song is all about ripping it apart, adding some new elements and reworking stuff you make it sound new and fresh. Maybe a song can be made more uptempo and dancable or how about a low-fidelity more acoustic approach to the song? It's all up to you, the remixers, how a new take on this song should be.

OMVR's big breakthrough was on the TV show The Voice and he is a well known name in Norway. His biggest asset may be in his voice and the way it carries the track without having to resort to effects and processing. In today's musical landscape this is starting to be more and more uncommon. This makes remixing the production so much better as you can keep the vocals and redo everything else and still stay true to the song's original spirit.

Last year's winner of the Remix competition was Rootkit's remix of the track Torgny - Nights. You can download the winner here: Torgny - Nights (Rootkits Remix).
