From Austria they came..
Every year people come from all over the world to attend The Gathering.
This year we’ve had a chat with a group of guys that came from Austria.
We couldn’t help but wonder, what drives 4 guys from Austria to Norway?
- Madness! Is the first response we get from Phil.
We come here for the atmosphere and the size of the party, there’s nothing like this in Austria.
It’s also cool that TG has a nice demo-scene and we fancy the noise as well.
The guys have arranged small LAN parties at home for some years, with approximately 900 participants.
- At home everything is so serious at LANs, everyone has headphones and there’s no speakers at all. It’s become to serious, and the fun and creativity is fading away. It’s more of a pro-gamer scene back home, the guys say and nod at each other.
It could appear as if the LAN scene in Austria is dying, so the guys find it enriching to be here at The Gathering.
- We get a lot of ideas here and we bring them with us home to Austria and try to implement them into our own LAN parties. Some of them work, and some don’t. We don’t have much contests and shows like here at The Gathering.
They came together with a friend from Germany, and the travel was somewhat complicated and took in total 8 hours.
- Luckily we all have laptops, so the only hazzle was getting our sleeping equipment and luggage with us, which was kind of hard since the maximum weight is 20Kg. We miss having our shelves and other cool stuff like some of the other participants have with them.
We’re glad to see that the guys are having a good time, and wish them all the best with the LANs in Austria.
