: Midi should not be aloud in the music compo

I agree, because:
1. General Midi music are often of better quality than .XM because:
a) Most MIDI-cards have DSP (Digital Signal Processing) which adds room & depth to the music. If you're playing a trumpet without
DSP, it will sound like you're sitting in a small toilet with the door shut.
b) Midi-patches/ROMs are generally of better
quality than samples used in modules.
(44,1kHz, 16bit)
c) MIDI have greater panning resolution than .XM (.XM have a range from 0-F while MIDI have 0-127)
d) A MIDI-instrument can consist of more than one sample. Ex: Acoustic Grand Piano often have 4-5 samples for different octaves.
e) eeh... I know that it's a lot of more reasons. Just ask those who have a Roland, Yamaha, Turtle Beach or Ensoniq synths...
2. The MIDI music will sound different on an anther souncard.
3. A .MID-file and a .XM/.S3M/.RT/.MTM/etc. are quite different, because modules have the samples/instruments stored in the file together with a "receipt", and MIDI-files only have the "receipt".
4. I know that there's a lot of other reasons which I can't remember...
