QUAKE LIVE is a fast paced tactical first person shooter. The objective in QUAKE LIVE is to frag/kill enemy players and score points by completing gametype specific objectives, while maneuvering within a combat arena gathering items to maintain one's health, armor and ammo to stay alive.

It is important for a player to begin gathering weapons, health and armor from the moment they spawn to improve their tactical position and give them a greater advantage in combat. Players who fight before properly gearing up will often find themselves ill prepared for combat. Remember to gear up after spawning, and to restock after each fight.

In most game types, if the player is fragged he or she instantly respawns with full health and gets straight back into the action but loses any weapons/power-ups that were carried. In Quake Live, a game ends once the fraglimit, timelimit, capturelimit, or scorelimit is reached.

The game is free to play at www.quakelive.com.

QuakeLive Ruleset

1 General

1.1 The Tournament referees are the Game Crew. They will have the last word in all situations. The decisions taken by the referees shall over-ride any rule found within this document.

1.2 The referees shall have the right to change, add to or delete any rule within this document at any time without notice to the participants. We encourage you to check the rules regularly to ensure that you are following the most up to date rules.

1.3 By entering the competition, all entrants confirm that they agree to follow the rules, and that they understand that the referees shall have the final word within the competition.

2 Match Rules

2.1 Map Choice

The left-most player in the match details begins by choosing a map to delete from the playlist, after which the right-most player will also remove one map. The three remaining maps will be played during the match. The left-most player in the match details decides which map will be played first, and then the opponent must pick the second. The last map will be used to break any tie that may occur.

2.2 Maplist

  • qzdm6 (Campgrounds)
  • qzdm13 (Lost World)
  • qztourney7 (Furious Heights)
  • qztourney9 (House of Decay)
  • ztntourney1 (Blood Run)

2.3 Game Type

2.3.1 Game type will be Duel, and will be played in a Best of 3 Maps format. The time limit for each map is 10 minutes, with 2 minute overtime intervals if the score is equal after the allotted time.

3 Servers and choice

3.1 Servers will be provided by The Gathering and the password will be announced by the Admin before the start of each match.

3.2 All matches will be played on servers most suitable for both players.

3.3 Multiple Server Match

3.3.1 Where players are not able to find a suitable server (for example, due to latency, ping times, etc), each player will choose a server to use, and the games will be played by alternating play on each competitor’s server. For example, player A’s map choice will be played on Player B’s server, and player B’s map choice will be played on player A’s server. If a third map is needed it will be played with a 5 minute time limit on both already played servers, after which time the scores will be added together in order to decide on a winner.

4 During the Match

4.1 Disconnects in the first 3 minutes of a map

4.1.1 If a player unwillingly drops link during the first 3 minutes of any map, the map will be replayed from the start.

4.2 Disconnects in the last 3 minutes of a map

4.2.1 Disconnects in the last three minutes of the map will be subject to decision by the Admin. The Admin will decide whether the remaining minutes/seconds are played after a restart of the map or if the score at the time of disconnect counts as final result.

4.3 Custom HUD and configs

4.3.1 Players are free to use their own configuration files and to manipulate HUDs as long as no unfair advantage is gained. Please consult the admin team prior to your first match to ensure that your changes will be allowed under fair play rule.

4.4 Spectators

4.4.1 Spectators are not allowed. Only admins and authorized coverage partners are allowed to spectate matches. Players are not allowed to forward the password to any external person.

4.5 Spamming In-game

4.5.1 Three (3) minor penalty points will be awarded if the chat function in-game is abused in any way, including annoying an opponent, or generally attempting to change the flow of play. The all-chat functions are there to communicate efficiently with the opponent and the Match Admins.

4.6 Failure to Play

4.6.1 Failure to arrive on time to play a match will result in a walkover.

In addition to saving all files, demo files must be uploaded to the match site no more than 24 hours after the match has been played. Please see a Game Admin if you need advice about uploading demos.

5.3 Leaving a game

5.3.1 It is not permitted to leave the match until the time is up on the last map, nor are you allowed to stop playing before time is up. Failure to adhere to this rule may be penalized by a fine of up to two (2) minor penalty points.

5.4 Continuing a disrupted game

5.4.1  If a game is disrupted for whatever reason, and has to be restarted at a later stage, then the score from the previous part of the match will be retained, and the match will be continued with the amount of time that was left on the map.
