Minecraft contests
1. General
1. 1. The Tournament referees are ProPhi, Minecraft.no and Game Crew. They will have the
final word in all situations. The decisions taken by the referees shall override any rule found
within this document.
1.2 These rules are put forth by ProPhi, Minecraft.no and Game Crew. The referees have
the right to change, add to or delete any rule within this document at any time without notice
to the participants. We encourage you to check the rules regularly to ensure that you are
following the most up to date rules.
1.3 By entering the competition, all entrants confirm that they agree to follow the rules, and
that they understand that the referees shall have the final word within the competition.
1.4 All participants must be present at The Gathering and have a valid TG ticket in order to
compete in the tournament.
2 Creative contest
Teams consisting of up to 5 players are given 24 hours to construct the most amazing artwork
they can imagine. This year’s theme is “Transylvania”. The teams are given creative mode.
The contestants will be given a randomly generated map. The same map is given to all teams.
A jury will pick a maximum of 10 creations to compete in a vote. All participants at The
Gathering 2014 will be allowed to cast their vote and help declare a winner. No third-party
software will be available on the server (WorldEdit, VoxelSniper etc.). Usage of tools that
modify the speed and precision of block placement and removal is prohibited, and teams
using such tools will be disqualified. Examples of such tools are Schematica, speedhacks
and teleportation-tools. Tools such as Rei’sMinimap and ConvenientInventory are allowed.
If you are unsure as to whether or not a certain tool is allowed, please contact the game
administrator.
3 VoxelHero contest
Teams consisting of up to 5 players are given 24 hours to construct the most amazing artwork
they can imagine. This year’s theme is “Transylvania”. The teams are given creative mode,
WorldEdit and VoxelSniper. A jury will pick a maximum of 10 creations to compete in a
vote. All participants at The Gathering 2014 will be allowed to cast their vote and help declare
a winner. Usage of third party software is allowed in this competition. The basis of this
contest is to push the boundaries of Minecraft.
Since there is no limit on the usage of third party tools, the teams are permitted to host their
own servers. A complete server pack will be made available before the contest begins. The
teams are required to run a special plugin to prevent contestants from starting the build
prematurely. This plugin is included in the server pack. The server must be hosted from
within Vikingskipet.
To sum it all up:
- The teams can set up their own servers with any plugins they like
- The server must be hosted from within Vikingskipet
- The server must run the plugin “CompoLogger”, which is included in the
downloadable server pack
- Construction cannot begin before the server pack is released for download
- The world save files must be uploaded after the contest ends
If you do not wish to host your own server, we can set one up for you. These servers will only
run WorldEdit and VoxelSniper. Using this option, the team will only receive the server IP-
address to sign in, when the contest begins.
The teams themselves are responsible for any server issues that occur as a result of usage of
third party software.
Sign up for this contest by sending an email to mc@kiwhen.com. Include this information:
- Name of contestants
- Ingame nick
- Row- and seat-number for at least one contestant
- Whether you would like to host your own server or not
4 Ultra Hardcore Challenge (UHC)
Several teams play against each other in the same world. Each player has a single life, and
lost health points do not regenerate, like we are used to. The last player standing wins.
Players start without any aids, and have to rely on their Minecraft-skills to build fortifications
and weapons as fast as possible to eliminate the other teams. Third party software that
assists players locate resources or in combat is prohibited. Teams using such tools will be
disqualified.
