Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is an online first person shooter developed by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment. It is the fourth game in the Counter-Strike franchise.

Global Offensive was released on 21 August 2012, and was made available for PC and Xbox. It features classic content such as revamped versions of old maps, as well as brand new maps, characters and game modes.

CS:GO 5v5 Rules

1. General

1.1 The admins and/or TG14 Game Crew reserve the right to, at any time, remove or change the rules in this document if there is a discrepancy or a conflict arises. All players are encouraged to read all the rules regularly.

1.2 By joining this tournament, all players agree to the rules provided in this document. Where a rule is not clear or there is some question about its application, the ESL ruleset wIll be consulted. Nevertheless, the administrators have the final say in all matters and their decision will be taken as final in all matters.

1.3 All participants MUST be present at The Gathering 2014 inside the Viking Ship. Proof of presence of all team members will be checked at time of sign-in.

2. Format

2.1 General
The size of the teams in this tournament will be adjusted according to how many people sign up.

2.2 Preliminary rounds and playoffs
2.2.1 Thursday and Friday will host with the preliminary rounds, where 16 teams will play RO16 Double Elimination, BO1 each day.

2.2.2 When the preliminary rounds are completed, there will be four teams from each RO16 group. These teams will meet in the RO8 playoffs on Saturday.

2.2.3 Playoffs on Saturday will be more comprehensive - RO8 Single Elimination BO3. The Bronze Final will be played to determine the third place team.

2.2.4 The playoffs will be in "Max Rounds 15 " format, where the first team to reach 16 rounds on one map will win the map. If both teams have 15 rounds when the map is completed, overtime will be played in a "Max Rounds 3" format until a winner emerges.

2.2.5 Seeding in the preliminary rounds will be random. During the playoffs, the winners of their respective groups get first seed, second in their respective groups will get the second seed, etc. There are only four teams from each preliminary group progressing to the finals on Saturday.


3. Game settings

The most up to date version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be used.

3.7 Choosing maps during BO3/Finals

3.7.1    Team A removes one of 5 maps

3.7.2    Team B removes one of 4 maps

3.7.3    Team A chooses one of the 3 remaining maps, which will be the starting map

3.7.4   Team B chooses one of the 2 remaining maps, which will be the second map

3.7.5   The remaining map, if there is one, will be the third map

4. Before the match

4.1 Communication - IRC will be used for communication. The team leader must be available on Quakenet #tg.csgo at all times

4.2 Roll call - Each team must be ready 30 minutes before the start of the tournament. A roll call will be performed before the tournament starts

4.3 Communication with admins - Only the team leader may contact the admins except in extenuating circumstances. This includes all questions, complaints, results etc. Communication with the admins on the IRC channel must be done in private message (/msg <admin name>), not in the main channel.

4.4 Attendance - All players must be logged in to the server 15 minutes before the posted time of the match. If players are not present at the time the game was to begin, the team with the most players logged on may receive a walkover.

5. During the match

5.1 Nicknames and clan names - All players must use the nick- and clan-name they used at the time of sign-up. This includes on the IRC client.

5.2 Choice of side - The winner of a knife round decides what side to play. Grenades and other items giving an advantage are not allowed. Neither are heights (i.e. jumping onto boxes)

5.3 Planting the bomb - The bomb must be visible. Boosting when planting the bomb or bug planting is not allowed

5.4 Bugs - Exploiting of bugs will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification of the entire team from the tournament regardless of stage of play.

5.5 In-game behaviour - All players must behave themselves. Examples of poor behaviour are spamming in-game chat, etc. Only team captains may write in in-game chat (exceptions are words like GLHF, GH, GG, etc.)

5.6 Boosting - Boosting players is allowed as long as it is not a bug exploit (looking over ledges, etc). Grenade boosts are not allowed.

5.7 Server crash - If a server crashes before the end of three rounds, the match will be restarted. If more than three rounds have been completed, the match will restart, but the score will remain and mp_startmoney will be set to 6000.

5.8 Pausing - Each team may pause the match once. The maximum pause is 5 minutes. When the 5 minutes has passed, the other team may at any time resume the match. A pause must be taken during freeze time or after a round has finished. Before a pause is used, it must be announced in the in-game chat, and an announcement made before the match resumes.

5.9 Demo and screenshot - Demo is required. All players must record in-game. If this is not done the entire team will be disqualified. A screenshot of the smoke grenade must be taken. Both demo and screenshots must be kept throughout the entire tournament. The admins may at any time demand a demo or screenshot in case of conflicts.

6. After the match

6.1 Result - Both teams must notify an admin of the result straight after the match has been concluded. A screenshot of the result must also be taken by both teams. After the result has been confirmed, the teams may no longer complain about the result.

6.2 Complaint - The match will go on even if a team or player believes the other team has cheated. The team must then notify an admin and file a complaint. After the complaint has been accepted, the team has a window of 10 minutes to gather all evidence and hand it over to the admin. The admins may need some time to process the complaint.

6.3 Sending a demo - If a complaint is filed, the player in question must hand in a demo and screenshot to both the admin and the opponent`s team captain within 15 minutes. If this is not done, the team may be disqualified. The admins may give the player some more time to comply.

6.4 Behaviour after the match - All players must show respect to their opponents and the admins.

6.5 Cheating

6.5.1 No form of cheating is allowed. Examples are wallhack, aimbot, radarhack, and other forms of third party software. The entire team risk disqualification if the admins find sufficient evidence of such cheating.

6.6 Behaviour

6.6.1 All players must act professional and display good sportsmanship throughout the tournament. This includes all forms of communication such as IRC, steam, in-game chat, etc.

7.  Warnings

7.1) A player may get a warning if he does any of the following:

7.1.1    Refusal to follow the instructions of any game administrator.
7.1.2    Arriving late to the game or missing a game.
7.1.3    Using foul language and/or displaying poor behaviour.
7.1.4    Behaving in an unsportsmanlike manner.

7.2 A player may be disqualified for one of the following:
7.2.1    Getting more than a warning.
7.2.2  Any act of intimidation, bullying, or violence (physical or verbal) against participants, observers or game administrators.
7.2.3   Using cheats or other unfair gaming tactics (i.e. interruption of opponent, physical blocking, exploits, cheat codes, etc.).
7.2.4    Misleading a judge.
7.2.5   Not being present when a game is due to start.
7.2.6   Exploiting any bugs that clearly alter the game's functionality.
