Game Development

The game industry has been one of the fastest growing entertainment industries for many years, and the market is flooding with new games. To separate yourselves from the fold you should then either make something completely new, or perfect an already established proforma. We're really excited to see what you can come up with either with a team or by yourself!

The general rules apply to this competition. Please read them.

How do I participate?

You make a game either by yourself or with a team. Most likely you have developed the game for a while before The Gathering, if not you should perhaps look at our Fast Game Development compo instead!

Note: The game can not have been released anywhere before participating in this competition!

What do I need to hand in?

The game doesn't have to be fully developed, but it should appear as polished as possible with few game-breaking bugs.

  • Hand in a functioning build.
  • Any documentation you feel is needed to explain your game, either for gameplay, story or something else.
Feel free to pitch features that you have planned for any potential further development and how that will change your game.
  • Screenshots that showcase your game at its best.

How do I win?

A jury from Spillmakerlauget will select the finalists which will need to present their game up on the stage.

If you are selected to go on stage you should have a plan for how to best promote your game, and how to best answer the questions we ask you about your game.

The game needs to well executed, and the presentation should be convincing!

The winners will then be chosen by a combination of votes from the audience and the jury!
