Fast Game Development

The the best way to come up with new amazing games is to make a lot of rapid prototypes, and the most fun way to do that is to do it via GameJams. In Fast Game Development you will get a theme to follow and a few short days to complete your game based around the theme. We're really excited to see what you can come up with either with a team or by yourself!

This year’s theme is: Reality is not what it seems!

The general rules apply to this competition. Please read them.

How do I participate?

You make a game either by yourself or with a team, based around a theme we will announce on Wednesday morning the 16th of April.

What do I need to hand in?

We don't expect fully developed games, and we will look past some bugs as long as they don't ruin the experience too much. But don't overscope! Game Development takes time, we'd rather you make a smaller game!

  • Hand in a functioning* build.
  • Any documentation you feel is needed to explain your game, either for gameplay, story or something else.
Feel free to pitch features that you have planned for any potential further development and how that will change your game.
  • Screenshots that showcase your game at it's best.

*We understand that in short development-phases things might go wrong, and if the jury is unable to run your build we will contact you. So test your builds!

How do I win?

A jury from Spillmakerlauget will select the finalists, who will present their game on the stage. If you are selected to go on stage you should have a plan for how to best promote your game, and how to best answer the questions we ask you.

The game needs to well executed, and the presentation should be convincing!

The winners will then be chosen by a combination of votes from the audience and the jury!

What can I win?

1st place: 3.000 NOK.
2nd place: 2.000 NOK.
3rd place: 1.000 NOK.
