Combined Demo/Intro

A demo is an executable program that shows graphics generated in real- time, accompanied by music. An intro is the same as a demo but with size limitations. Common size limitations are 64k and 4k bytes.

The general rules apply to this competition. Please read them.

How do I participate?

You create a demo as described above for your platform of choice. Note that we do not have the capacity to support every possible platform.

Platforms

We support the following platforms:

• Windows 7. The compo machine will have installed the latest service pack, DirectX and the latest drivers
• Kubuntu 13.10. The compo machine will have the latest graphics drivers installed. Contact the Creativia-crew if any specific library is needed.
• Amiga (Emulated). If it is a PPC-demo, please submit a video.
• Atari (Emulated)
• C64 (Emulated)
• Nintendo consoles (Emulated). This depends on the availability of good emulators. Contact the Creativia-crew if you wish to submit a demo in this category.
• .NET 4.0
• Java SE (7u51 or later)
• HTML5/JavaScript, GPU- accelerated WebGL available.

If you wish to submit a demo developed for a different platform, please contact the Creativia-crew. Should it prove difficult to run your demo, we ask that you submit a video and giving us a demonstration of it running on the actual platform so that we can verify the submission.

Running time

We will not run the demo for more than 8 minutes. Note that your demo should be very interesting to justify being that long.

Testing

The compo machine will be available for testing during the competition. A fully working demo is not needed for testing.

What do I need to hand in?

• You should upload a single archive containing everything that is needed to run the demo. Preferably use zip or tar.

How do I win?

The winner will be chosen by a combination of jury and public votes.

What can I win?

1st place: 13 000 NOK.
2nd place: 6 000 NOK.
3rd place: 3 000 NOK.
4th place: 2 000 NOK.
5th place: 1 000 NOK.
