Who is Arne?

You may realise that once you start talking about going to TG, there is a peculiar interest for a guy named Arne. Or maybe you are already sitting inside Vikingskipet surrounded by an inexplainable and extremely loud call for him. Here is what you need to know on the subject.

«Arne» is a mythical in-joke which has been going on at TG since the early 2000s. It has also spread to other computer parties. It is characterised by the participants shouting «Arne» loudly in unison. The «wave» will usually be started by one or a few participants, quickly followed by an increasing number of others. Makes wonderful noise in that big spacial ship.

As mentioned before, there is no reliable source of origin for the Arne story. That does not mean there are not many theories. The most common one is probably about a participant looking for his mate in despair. He was tired but could not find his sleeping gear, his money or his food. The only thing he knew was that his friend Arne had them. Thus he wandered around the ship crying his name. Whether Arne was found remains unknown, but he will definitely not be forgotten.
