Dota 2

Dota 2 is an action real time strategy (ARTS) game where tactics and team co-ordination play an important role. The main objective in Dota 2 is to destroy the enemy's Ancient Structure inside their stronghold. These strongholds are protected by multiple towers down 3 lanes.

The player controls a Hero who fights for them and becomes stronger by leveling up through gaining experience (given when creeps and heroes are killed) and by buying items with gold to gain an advantage. Gold is gained passively over time through killing creeps, and by destroying enemy heroes and buildings. You can prevent the enemy from gaining as much gold and experience as you by destroying their creeps and buildings and by denying the opposing team kills and destruction of buildings.

The Tournament at The Gathering 2013

Lions E-Sport Klubb, in association with Logitech, will host a Dota2 tournament at The Gathering 2013 this year. This is the first time Dota2 will be hosted at The Gathering and we are lucky to have Logitech on board with us.

The game will start off in group stages with a Best of 2 before we round up the scores and end up with the top 16 teams. The Top 16 teams will go through to the playoffs where top 8 will go to the upper bracket and the following 8 will go to the lower bracket.

Every round in the playoffs will be played in a Best of 3 format, but we will finish the tournament with a Best of 5 final match. The upper bracket team will not have any score advantage or get the opportunity to drop down to a lower bracket match to gain advantage.
