Details on the TG09 network

26. Mar 09:58 / Knut Auvor Grythe

Hello all you networking geeks out there! We now provide some technical details on the network at TG09!

This time the network will primarily be designed around a core of two Cisco 7609 routers located on the hall floor. All edge switches will be connected directly to these two routers. The two 7609 routers will be interconnected with 5 10Gbit links, providing a total bandwidth of 50 Gbit. Last year the corresponding interconnect was 20Gbit, so this is a significant upgrade.

We will have two 10Gbit links (20Gbit in total) running from the two core routers to TeleGW, the Cisco Catalyst 6509 switch connecting us to the outside world. TeleGW is connected to the Internet with a 5Gbit fiberoptic link provided by BaneTele, as well as a 100mbit priority link.
