Quake 3 VQ3

§1. Introduction:

These are the rules for the Quake 3 VQ3 1on1 tournament at The Gathering 2009.
All contestants are expected to have read and understood the rules stated in this document.
The tournament will use a dubbel elimination format.

§2. Registration:

All players must registrer via PTN (Partyticket.net)
All registered players must register once again on-site at The Gathering in order be fully registered.
If a player fails to register on-site that spot will be reopened for other players.

§3. Client setup:

Challenge Promode Arena (CPMA) 1.46 will be installed on all computers along with two different executables.

  • Id Softwares Quake3.exe
  • Challenge Quake 3 executable
  • Players are expected to bring the following to the tournament:
  • Mouse + Mousepad
  • Keyboard
  • Headset

§4. Game settings:

  • Default VQ3 gameplay settings
  • Timelimit: 15 minutes
  • Overtime: 2 minutes
  • Configs
  • Cl_maxpackets must be set to 125
  • Rate must be set to 25000
  • Snaps must be set to 30 (due to sv_fps 30)
  • Cg_nudge must remain at 0
  • R_picmip must be set to 5 or lower

§5. Double elimination:

  • Double elimination with best of three maps
  • Each player chooses one map and the player with highest seed picks first map
  • Each player needs to announce BEFORE the match starts which map he chose.
  • If the score is 1 - 1 after 2 maps then each player chooses one map away and the remaining map will be number three.

- All players begin in the winner bracket. When a player loses a match, he will be sent
to the lower bracket.

- If a player is undefeated up to the grand final, the player coming from the lower bracket
to face him will have to defeat him in 2 matches (that is 2 best of 3’s) to be crowned the
winner. The undefeated player will obviously have to win only 1 match.

§7. Map picking procedure:

  • A coin toss will decide who is player A and player B
  • Player A removes one of the 5 maps.
  • Player B removes one of the 4 remaining maps.
  • Player B picks one of the 3 remaining maps.
  • Player A picks one of the 2 remaining maps.
  • The same map can’t be removed or picked twice.

This years competetion have a compulsory attendance for all winners (1-3) on The Gathering. Fail to show up will have economic consequences for the teams.
