In this competition, mostly anything goes. It is a competition for all artistic contributions that don't fit in any other genres. Demos that break all size limits or are made for exotic platforms, long computer-generated animations, or even homemade movies. If it's possible to show on the big screen (and worth showing!), it fits in this competition.
Here are the winners from the last ten nine years:
Alvenka by Magnus and Eivind (2007)
lol race 5 o clock lol race hehelol by the Dark Codex (2006)
It's your duty by Punktum (2005)
To gode naboer - data by Tom Idland and Knut Arne Lindeland (2004)
Wild cows with guns by Shagrat (2003)
Disco fever by Mr S and Mr B (2002)
Robotnik's Dream by thriD (2001 Anim winner)

Entries in the wild competition must be registered through the web-based compo system, and can be delivered through this system as well.
If you really want to make us happy, please hand in a Zip or Rar file containing the entry itself and a short text file (file_id.diz/.nfo/.txt) with information about the entry (author, name, additional credits) as well as contact info.
Because videos tend to have huge filesizes we allow delivery of entries on physical media for the Wild competition. If this applies to your entry, make sure to follow these guidelines:
For demos running on hardware not allowed in the demo compo, animations and videos.
Other video formats are not allowed, and will result in a disqualification.
This is not a home movie competition, and thus there are restrictions on what content we accept. Specifically, your entry must be generated using computers or electronics as your primary tool, or be relevant to The Gathering or a related subculture. Or it should be really funny or cool. Some good examples are:
Here's some examples of what we do not want:
In addition to this, we will not show material that we judge to be offensive or in bad taste. Use common sense when deciding on what you put in.
A jury will select a maximum of ten (10) entries to be showed to the public. The jury's decicion is final, and there is no room for appeals.
Entries not selected for the show can not be voted for.
The winner will be chosen by combining the results from the popular vote with a jury vote. The popular vote will account for 67% of the total score, and the jury vote will account for 33%.
Use of copyrighted material is not allowed (this goes for the soundtrack as well). Any participant must be ready to provide documentation that the material used is either your own or released under a license that allows its use (ie., some Creative Commons-licenses, or material in the public domain). Failing to provide such documentation upon request will result in disqualification of the entry.
If you are in doubt, ask someone from the compo crew before the deadline (that way, you will have time to remove any problematic content before submitting).
Four (4) minutes. Exceptions will be made for content that's really, really good.
The compo will be held if we receive 3 or more entries.
If we recieve fewer entries, this compo may be combined with the Machinimae compo.
The general rules for the Gathering 2009 creative competitions apply to this compo.
The deadline will be announced later.
